Author's Background:  (June 17, 1911- August 30, 1944) was an Ilokano writer in English, patriot, and martyr. He is from Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union, and also known well writer. Because he sepnt of his childhood int he province and potraying its Ilokano life is remarkable

Vocabulary:

Gorge - a narrow valley between hills or mountains, typically with steep rocky walls and a stream running through it.
Surmise - suppose that something is true without having evidence to confirm it.

Characters:

Leon - Baldo's older brother, Maria's husband, eldest son
Maria - Leon's wife, 
Baldo - Leon's younger brother; the one who narreted their story.
Leon's Father - the one instructed Baldo to bring the husband and wife to find out if Maria is really worthy.
Leon's Mother - very supportive mother that wishes the best for Leon.
Labang - The loyal and hardworking bull, they use for travel.


Setting: 

Farmland - an agricultural land that is used in planting vegetables and fruits. Use also for production food for humans.

Summary


Baldo sit tights for Leon and Maria to arrive at the station to bring Maria and meet Leon's family. Maria meets Baldo and Labang for the first time and got to know each other. Leon and Maria spend some time together, making jokes,, and discussing Labang's uniqueness. At some point Leon ask his Brother to get the truck in arrangement for their voyage. As Maria gets in the truck as Baldo potrays how dazzling she smells. Leon drove the truck while Maria and Baldo spends time in the farm. Sooner or later, he gave the rope to Baldo and he all of a sudden began to turn a different way. Leon starts asking questions form Baldo. But Baldo didn't not answer the question but procceed to their what are they doing. Leon stated, who ask you to drive on the fields today at evening time? Baldo replied Father, he instructed me to take after the Waig this evening. Leon change the topic about Maria and asks what his father's intention. It was getting dim, Maria inquiredas to whether they'll arrive soon. Baldo is confused to what to answer exactly replied with '' Nearly there'' so Leon had an idea and to relax the atmosphere by singing a familiar song between him and Maria. Stressed and nervous, Maria begins to lose confidence what if his dad will accept her. Leon comfort her that his dad is gentleman and a man of his word. As they arrive at Leon's home, greeting everyone and lastly going to meet his father. Leon said everything about Maria how she will be a worthy wife for him and convincing his father that she the best and really worthy.

Symbolism:
Love comes in numerous structure or forms, and it can experience in good or bad way, making it the most profund relationship affection to the best feeling

Acceptance of the Family and Love

Lesson:

The moral lesson of the story is that love is the best adventure you can have in your life it may also be painful when you are experiencing it but keep in it mind that the sacrifice that you made through the years must be maintain it. And in the the end you will realize that respect is always the key to understanding each other and respecting each other.
